Romper to Dress!

Updated: Jun 17, 2018

Last night was PINNED South Florida's Retro Bowling night and it was a blast! It was amazing to get together with new and old friends and spend a lovely Sunday evening in good company.

Well for a wonderful evening out with fellow pinups, I needed a cute pinup outfit! I have a couple of things in my closet, but I wanted something new and different!

A couple weeks ago I had a fellow pin-up friend give me an outfit she didn't want. It was a beautiful romper/jumper Lindy Bop outfit in a deep purple. Once I tried it on I LOVED.....but it was pants......I immediately got subconscious of my mid section. I usually don't wear pants because I don't like the tight feel and feel subconscious.

So I decided to alter this outfit for me! I turned the pants into a pencil skirt!

I didn't take a picture (or video) of how I ripped the seam - will get better on this.

I used a seam ripper along the inside of the pants. Once I carefully undid the seams there will be two flaps hanging on the sides and if you put it on you will notice the possibility of a skirt coming!

Hand drawings - Any questions on what your seeing message me :)

My Brother machine :)

If you notice my (amateur) drawing above you will notice the first one depicts where you open the seam. The middle drawing shows the flaps that will come up. A+C is the left leg and B+D is the right leg. Then I sewed A+B & C+D inside like the last image.

Since the pencil skirt will be mid calf I did a 6" seam in the back.

TADA you have a dress!!!

I honestly think it came out really well! Even the girl that gave me the romper wanted me back! (but she wont!)

Next time I will try to accessories with a white belt! Flowers!

Can you imagine how other outfits would look like if they were slightly modified with a bit of sewing?! Comment below!
